In 2010 we are celebrating YWAM’s 50th anniversary. Not only has God shown us His heart for the nations in this time, but our call to the nations is something that has marked us as YWAM. We have been there, done that, and still there are a number of nations where we don’t have a YWAM presence yet. Botswana being one of them.

Though Botswana is considered the least corrupt nation in Africa, with the best investment opportunities in the developing world, it is not without problems. One of the biggest challenges Botswana is facing, is the impact of HIV/AIDS. According to the World Health Organization, 40% of the people of Botswana between the ages of 15 and 49 are HIV positive, and the pandemic has reduced life expectancy to a mere 33 years. Other challenges include fractured family structures, influx of Zimbabwean refugees, and the re-settlement of the San in the Kalahari.
In spite of these challenges, Botswana is a country which still hosts some of the richest African wildlife, is home to beautiful and diverse cultures, and holds great wealth in the potential of it’s people.
